On October 12, 2018, at 3:57pm, Emarosa front man Bradley Walden, unapologetically pronounced his band\’s post-hardcore era dead. He wasn\’t wrong.
Today\’s announcement of the \”Givin\’ Up\” video (PRESS HERE to watch) leans a little clarity to Walden\’s somewhat vague tweet. The first single from the forthcoming new album, Peach Club(out February 8, 2019 on Hopeless Records), isn\’t easing into their new direction and there isn\’t a lot of room for nostalgically reminiscing about Emarosa\’s previous scuzzed-up riffing. The video is filtered in shades of pink and blue and features a crew of Beyoncé style dancers behind the band. The track itself tucks brass underneath the sparkling synth chimes and falsetto vocals of the dreamy dance floor bop, blaring softly before building into an unexpected and unashamed saxophone solo that you\’d expect of an album from The 1975.
\”We\’re at that point where we\’ve realized that there\’s no consequences for making whatever record we want to make. We started writing, and it felt like the book was being thrown out the window. There are no rules,\” shares Walden. \”Givin\’ Up\” makes it perfectly clear where Emarosa is headed. With Peach Club, they\’ll head down the path Pale Waves, Fickle Friends and Betty Whohave traveled, channeling the influence of Paula Abdul, Prince and Michael Jackson to create a new and modern sound from their lasting 1980s legacies.
Fans can catch an early glimpse of Peach Club by catching Emarosa on their current North American tour with select dates in support of Hands Like Houses on their Fall 2018 Tour. The band will be making stops at Gramercy Theatre in New York and Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles, full dates below. Tickets to all shows are available now via the band\’s website.
