Rob Zombie may be one of the darkest and most and twisted movie-makers of all time. His movies always have that underlying satanic element mixed with such dark content it’s just beautiful.
With
The Lords of Salem, Zombie returns with a film that is as dark as it is well done. The film centers around Heidi Hawthorne (played by Zombie’s wife, Sherri Moon Zombie). Heidi is a DJ at a local rock radio station and receives a new record in the mail from a band called The Lords.
Since they live in Salem, Heidi and her cohosts tag The Lords as The Lords of Salem. After she plays the album, strange things start happening.
This begs the question- what if the witches executed during the Salem Witch Trials really were witches?
There’s almost no violence or no profanity in this movie. It’s one dark, twisted, cinematic thrill ride. Zombie and his crew dig themselves into your head and do nothing but mess with your mind.
This one is Zombie’s strongest cinematic venture yet, beating out
House of 1000 Corpses and
The Devil’s Rejects and any fan of his movies will absolutely fall in love with
The Lords of Salem.
