Tech N9ne\’s Independent Powerhouse Tour brings the heat to Castle Theater

by Philip Coon The Castle Theater in Bloomington, Ill. was the latest stop for Tech N9ne’s Independent Powerhouse Tour. This tour consists of all Strange Music artists – Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, Brotha Hung Lynch, Rittz, and Ces Cru. Ces Cru, a duo consisting of Ubiquitous and Godemis from Kansas City, Mo. Ces Cru performed a mix of songs from  the newly released album Constant Energy Struggles and their first release on Strange Music 13. Second up was newly signed Slumerican rapper Rittz.  One of the most popular acts on the show, Rittz has gained a continuously growing following with the success of his White Jesus EP and newly released full length album The Life and Times of Jonny Valiant. Next to perform was Kansas City, Mo. rapper Kutt Calhoun, who got the crowd moving with his awesome mic skills and peformed such hits as “Bunk Rock Bitch “ and “I’ve Been Dope”. Sacramento, Calif. rapper Brotha Hung Lynch was next and he got the crowd into his horror-core style of music. Last but not least was the duo of Tech N9ne and Krizz Kaliko. The two rappers worked together to get the crowd pumped up and into the music. Krizz Kaliko served as hypeman for Tech N9ne and also performed  a few songs off of his solo albums. Tech N9ne performed hits “Caribou Lou,” “E.B.A.H.” “Welcome to the Midwest,” “Riotmaker,” “Bout to Bubble” and others. The Independent Power House tour showcased the talents of some of the best rappers out there today. All fans had a great time and were really into the performances from all of the Strange Music artists.
