Styx to rock Emens Auditorium for Valentine\’s weekend
February 2, 2015
With Valentine\’s Day coming fast, a lot of couples are looking for something to do for the annual romantic night. There\’s always the traditional dinner and a movie date but some people like something a little different. Besides, dinner and a movie is a little overdone, don\’t you think?
For those looking for a good alternative to the traditional Valentine\’s date nights, what better way to spend a night with your significant other than at a concert? It\’s more fun, too- don\’t lie, you think so too. With Valentine\’s falling on a weekend this year, there are more options than previous years and Muncie\’s Emens Auditorium is bringing in one of the greatest bands of all time in Styx.
Styx have become one of the heaviest touring bands over the last decade or so and their songs are some of the most well-known- “Renegade,” “Come Sail Away,” “The Grand Illusion,” “Lady” and others are some of the most-sung songs around.
They\’ve also written some of the most romantic songs you\’ll find- “Lady,” “Babe,” “The Best of Times,” “Lorelei” and others are a perfect fit for the Valentine\’s season and on February 13, the band will rock Emens Auditorium. All you have to do is make sure you\’re there.
Keyboardist/vocalist Lawrence Gowan took some time recently to talk about the band\’s impending stop in Muncie and we had a chance to talk about the band\’s heavy tour schedule, the transition of the music industry to less of a focus on album sales, how the band stays relevant over the years, how he came to join the band in 1999 and whether we can look for some new music from the band. Stream the interview in its entirety below:
Make sure you catch the band in Muncie, Ind. on February 13 at Emens Auditorium. The show starts at 8 p.m. and it\’s guaranteed to be a night you won\’t soon forget.
