Review: Dope- Blood Money Part Zer0
Imagine it’s a Saturday night and you’re about to step foot into the darkest, most sinister dance club you can find. The lights go down and the DJ’s for the night are Drama Club and metal legends Dope.
That’s the vibe you get with Dope’s latest record, Blood Money Part Zer0. It’s hard to believe, but it’s been seven years since Dope returned and released Blood Money Part 1, but here we are and they’ve been giving this record out for free as a gesture of gratitude for the band’s fans being patient and sticking with them over the years.
While songs like “Believe” and “Misery” have that dance club and almost-poppy feel to them, they also made sure to throw in songs like “Best of Me” and “Parasite” that have the classic Dope sound that made everyone love them to begin with.
One of the stand out tracks is “Dive,” which shows Edsel Dope really exploring his past addiction issues and reevaluating his life and what that did to him.
In the end, this is a record that classic Dope fans will absolutely love. The band expands things but also stays true to what got them to the dance in the first place.
