New Medicine: Breaking the Model review

It\’s not often that a band releases their debut record and gets shot straight up to major status but when New Medicine released theirs, they quickly found themselves on tours with Stone Sour, Hollywood Undead, Avenged Sevenfold, Shinedown, Adelitas Way and others as well as some of the biggest festivals in the United States. The stage was set for a huge sophomore release and with Breaking the Model, that\’s exactly what they have.  Breaking the Model isn\’t a far cry from the band\’s 2010 debut record but shows the band maturing immensely in the the songwriting process and really coming into their own.  Opening track (and also the title track) is a more serious and darker track than we\’re used to hearing from New Medicine and \”Desire into Gold\” continues the heavier route the band takes on this one.  They haven\’t gone down a new road by any means here but the band has expanded their sound to a more complete hard rock repertoire and arsenal are are back, ready to set the world on fire. The ballads are more impressive, the rock tracks hit harder and the lyrical quality has improved more than most bands see on the sophomore record. With Breaking the Model, New Medicine have torn down any expectations set before them and have surpassed them more than you\’d ever expect. Rating: 9/10 -Reggie Edwards
