There’s three times a tour can get really exciting- the beginning, the end and if an album releases mid-tour. When New Kids on the Block’s Summer Magic tour hit Noblesville’s Ruoff Music Center, it was the last night of the tour and a fun one at that.
Nostalgia tours have been popular for a few years now and NKOTB always seem to bring a bill with them that’s guaranteed to sell out the venue and this year they brought DJ Jazzy Jeff and Paula Abdul- and the entire venue was packed.
After Jazzy Jeff got the crowd hyped up with a DJ set that had the crowd dancing and singing along, getting their drinks and partying it up, Paula Abdul took the stage for a set that took the crowd through her journey of preparing for the tour- from finding the backup dancers to picking her wardrobe to selecting the setlist, which made for a fun time for everyone.
At 62 years old, she can still move like she’s in her 20’s and she also looks amazing and she even joked about her age by having a backup dancer bring an oxygen tank up to her. Her dance moves are right on par with the moves and choreography she had in the 80’s and 90’s and, with a production that could stand up next to the pop artists of today, proving she still has it and can still hold her own as a top live act.
After a short wait, NKOTB took the stage as fans were dancing along to every song and singing along even louder. Both sides of the stage were packed with VIP fans, screaming and dancing with the band as well.
The set was loaded with hits and the amount of confetti that rained down upon the crowd and stage was insane. The night wasn’t just a concert, it was a party and throwback to the band’s heyday. They haven’t missed a beat, sounding flawless and their choreography was just fun to watch as they joked around with each other in between dance moves.
With this being the final night of the tour, all three artists were there to party and lead the crowd into a party atmosphere they wouldn’t forget and one that they’ll be ready to continue on with the next time NKOTB is back in Indy.
