When bands have new music releasing mid-tour, it gives a special and fun atmosphere as the bands are even more excited and the fans are ready to hear their first taste of the new stuff live. Enter Sevendust & Atreyu’s co-headline tour that just rolled through Indianapolis.
Though the tour started 10 days earlier, this was the first date with the entire lineup package of American Adrenaline, Fire From The Gods, Atreyu and Sevendust all on the bill and the energy was palpable- especially with Atreyu’s new record releasing the Friday of the show and Sevendust’s releasing just one week later.
It was a night of hits in Indy, with Sevendust, Atreyu and Fire From The Gods all on fire and boasting hit and after hit in their arsenals and the crowd was ready to rock and scream every word of every song.
After two strong sets from American Adrenaline and Fire From The Gods, things were just getting started and it and the intensity amped up big time when the lights went down and Atreyu hit the stage.
They’ve had three careers- one in the mid-2000’s with all the classics and running rampant on Warped Tours, almost reinventing the metalcore genre. Then there was their return from a breakup over 10 years ago and return album Long Live. Now there’ s the chapter that began with Baptize– the era without longtime singer Alex Varkatzas and with drummer Brandon Saller stepping into the forefront to take over the reigns as frontman.
The band’s new record- The End Is Not The End has already produced a few hits and, with so many hits and anthems from the last 10 years, it’s hard to fit a lot of the classics into the set too.
Atreyu took the stage with authority, taking no prisoners and set on creating more new fans and proving why they’re considered one of the greatest bands in rock today. They combined all three eras of their history into one cohesive set that featured hits the past and their current run and they’ve never sounded better.
Sevendust closed out the night, continuing to prove why they’re the juggernaut that they are.
They had recently wrapped up a European Tour as well as an acoustic tour last Fall, which hit Nashville Indiana- so the band and fanbase were both eager to go heavy and that’s exactly what they both got.
The band exploded like being shot from a canon and the sheer force that Sevendust has been for the last 30 years was just as prominent as ever. Sevendust have always been a band to show their appreciation and love for the fans and Indianapolis was no exception, with the band smiling, telling the fans how much they love them, shaking hands and taking a rock show and making it a fully personal experience for each person in the building.
In the end, Sevendust proved once again why their longevity is no coincidence and why they’re perennially one of the moved beloved bands in all of rock and metal.
