Multi-platinum rock band Barenaked Ladies will be touring with Hootie & The Blowfish for a 44-city road show—dubbed the “Group Therapy Tour”—that begins May 30th in Virginia Beach.
Barenaked Ladies fans who have purchased VIP packages in the past will receive an exclusive code to purchase pre-sale tickets on Wednesday December 5th at 10am (before they go on sale to the general public on Friday, December 7). More info can be found HERE.
The band made a brief announcement video, which can be seen HERE.
“We’ve played with Hootie and the Blowfish a few times over the years, and it’s always been a good time,” says Barenaked Ladies vocalist/guitarist Ed Robertson. “We’re thrilled they asked us to support them on this tour. I can’t imagine a better triple bill. Barenaked Ladies, Hootie AND the Blowfish?!! Sign me up! Wait, I’ve already signed up!”
Robertson, drummer Tyler Stewart, keyboardist Kevin Hearn and bassist Jim Creeggan have also begun writing the follow-up to 2017’s Fake Nudes, their fifteenth studio album.
Over the course of their remarkable career, Barenaked Ladies have sold over 15 million albums, written multiple top 20 hits (including radio staples “One Week,” “Pinch Me,” “Brian Wilson, “If I Had $1,000,000”), garnered 2 Grammy nominations, won 8 JUNO Awards, had Ben & Jerry’s name an ice cream after them (“If I Had 1,000,000 Flavours”), wrote and recorded the theme song to the award-winning TV series ‘The Big Bang Theory,” participated in the first-ever “space-to-earth musical collaboration” with astronaut Chris Hadfield, and garnered an international fan base whose members number in the millions. In 2018, the band celebrated their 30th anniversary by touring in support of a dynamic new album, Fake Nudes, a much-deserved induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame (with Rush vocalist Geddy Lee handling the honors), and a proclamation from Toronto Mayor John Tory declaring October 1 “Barenaked Ladies Day.”
