Evanescence has been one of my favorites since their debut,
Fallen, released. There was just something about Amy Lee’s voice and symphonic rock sound that is synonymous with Evanescence’s name that grabs you, entices you, and pulls you in without letting go.
That album was virtually good from beginning to end. Their second release,
The Open Door, was good, but just seemed to be missing something their first release had. I’ve never really been able to put my finger on it. Until now.
On October 11, their third album, also self-titled, simply
Evanescence, is released and it’s very clear now what they lacked on
The Open Door- Attitude.
Let me tell you this, Evanescence is back, and with a vengeance. They came back roaring with this one and the entire album is outstanding.
From the start of the first song, and lead single, “What You Want,” Amy Lee’s songwriting seems to be more emotional than ever and she lays it all on the table from start to finish.
They have the symphonic rock sound we have all grown to love, Lee’s voice is stronger than ever and the guitars are pure, solid rock if I ever heard it.
Evanescence will take on a wild ride through the depths of their heart and emotions, showing it all and will definitely give birth to some new fans with this one.
