Anthrax: Chile On Hell review

South America has always been a haven for North American thrash metal bands. While their popularity comes and goes in the States, thrash bands have always been able to bank on a dedicated following in Latin America. This is why when the legends Anthrax decided to record a live DVD, they filmed it in Santiago, Chile. Chile On Hell was filmed in 2013 and showcases an Anthrax show in its perfect element. While their return album, Worship Music was an overwhelming success and put the band back on the map, you are not going to see many of those tracks on this live DVD. In fact, “Fight ‘em Till You Can’t” is the only big song off that record the band features in the set list. This makes for an even more impressive show. With front man Joey Belladonna being back at the helm for a few years now and currently wrapping up the support cycle for Worship Music, Anthrax is operating at a level so concise and as such a tight-knit unit that they’re only going to get stronger and stronger as time goes on. If you’ve never seen Anthrax live and want to see what it’s truly like, Chile On Hell epitomizes what the atmosphere, band, energy and the rabid crowd is really all about at a show. This is what Anthrax is all about…through and through. Rating: 9/10 -Reggie Edwards
