Abiotic: Symbiosis review

Following up their debut studio album, Symbiosis, progressive death metal band, Abiotic, marches forward with their second studio album Casuistry. The band- hailing from Miami, Florida has put together another solid Progressive Death Metal album, with fitting song titles such as “Violent Scriptures,” “Reanimated Destruction,” and “The Absence of Purity.” With the band having a greater focus on discovering different sounds or various elements in their music, Casuistry delivers an extraordinary instrumental breakdown. “Drain. Deface. Abolish.” and “Cast into the Depths” illustrate just how much effort the band put into discovering themselves as musicians. The punishing drum beats from Brent Phillips, and tremendous guitar riffs leave the listener feeling captured in a scene that only their imagination can only create. “Nightmares of Your Conception” continues to put the listener in the driver seat of their own imagination with the lyrics so mercilessly and fiercely written by lead singer Travis Bartosek. This song also illustrates the focus that the group has shared with the guitar solos throughout the complete album. If you’re looking for a new album to add to your Death Metal library check out the Casuistry available worldwide on April 21. Rating: 9/10 -Luke Ballengee
