Five Finger Death Punch are finally back- not that it took too long for them to return with new music. American Capitalist, their previous record came out just two years ago yet the larger-than-life band is back with the first installment of a double record- The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Vol. 1.- a record that will make any “Knuckle Head” do unthinkable things in excitement.
This record has the Death Punch sound the band talks about in their cover of “Bad Company” and isn’t a huge shift sonically for the band. There’s nothing too new here and there’s nothing that’s gonna make you say “what the hell were they thinking!?”
The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Vol. 1. stands right up there with the band’s previous work and shows them continuing to build upon the foundation they’ve laid with their three previous records.
In today’s music world, it’s all about momentum and how well you keep it going. If band hasn’t lost momentum or put out a bad piece of work by the third or fourth record, you can expect them to thrive for their entire career and for them to become a powerful force. Five Finger Death Punch have solidified themselves as not just a powerful force but a movement you’d better fear.
There’s the anger, hate, rage and power we’ve all come to expect and love from the band and Ivan Moody seems to have a bone to pick with the world here. Songs like “Burn MF,” “You” and “Dot Your Eyes” are signature Five Finger Death Punch and their cover of LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out” is a home run, touchdown and alley oop that will live on forever.
Get ready for volume two, kids, because Five Finger Death Punch are primed to destroy the world with it.
